Leonidas Miranda, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who has been part of the HCA family since 2009. He came to Houston after 5 successful years as an assistant professor of Surgery at Texas Tech University. He is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

 

Dr. Miranda specializes in a wide variety of procedures, including hernias, gallbladder disease, gastrointestinal problems, tumors of the skin/soft tissues, and the placement of venous access ports for chemotherapy. In addition to general surgery, he has expertise and a special interest in the management of benign and malignant breast diseases.

 

He is a compassionate and meticulous surgeon who is greatly involved in all aspects of managing surgical procedures – from the preoperative visit to the management of nutrition and pain control. He constantly coordinates with referring physicians and specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and plastic surgeons to ensure the utmost care for his patients.

 

He provides safe and modern techniques for his patients by using state-of-the-art surgical breast procedures, such as breast conservation with oncoplastic surgery and lymphedema prevention techniques for the surgical treatment of breast cancer. Additionally, Dr. Miranda has special training in wound care, which allows him to pay great attention to detail when it comes to plastic surgery techniques for skin closure that lead to minimal or no visible scars.

 

Dr. Miranda grew up in Ecuador as the oldest child of four and comes from a family with many physicians. As a child, he was inspired by his family and his calling to help people, so he decided to pursue a career in medicine. He graduated top of his medical school class and was motivated to continue his dream of becoming a surgeon here in the United States. When he isn’t at work, he loves spending time with his wife, daughter, and playful miniature poodle. He also enjoys engaging in one of his many hobbies, such as playing the piano, jogging, and reading about the latest updates in the car industry.

 

Dr. Miranda is fluent in Spanish and is accepting new patients. He is also accepting telehealth visits.
